Assigning and Paying for Network Work

Written by Julie Lanio

Assigning tasks to network providers is done the same way you assign tasks today. Breezeway Payments handles payment automatically, so providers are paid once their work is complete. All you need to do is add a payment method and set a rate for each task!

Work with network providers is paid through Breezeway Payments. This keeps payment simple and reliable for both sides.

Fees

Step 1: Add a Payment Method

You can add a network provider to your team at any time. To assign tasks to them, you need a valid Breezeway payment method.

Until you add one:

  • A banner on provider profiles reminds you to Add a payment method

Network providers will appear greyed out with a warning icon wherever you choose assignees, including task details, bulk assignee changes and default assignees.

Select Add a payment method from the banner or from Payment Settings. The Make payments window shows processing fees. Select Set up to add a bank account or card through Stripe in a new tab.

Step 2: Assign Tasks with a Piece Rate

Tasks assigned to network providers need a piece rate (a set amount per task) greater than $0. Hourly rates are not yet supported for network work.

Network providers always receive tasks as offers to accept or decline, even if your company uses auto-accept.

To ensure a smooth experience on both sides of the network, some fields lock as a task moves forward in the network lifecycle:

Default assignees: If you choose a network provider as a default assignee for a department or template, Breezeway asks you to confirm that the provider will not be assigned to tasks without a piece rate.

🚨Tasks created via auto-scheduler that have a network service provider as a default assignee will not be assigned to the network service provider if the task does not have an established piece rate. Those tasks are still created but without the network provider assigned.

Step 3: Autopay

Once you add a network provider, Task payments is activated in your account if it has not already been turned on. The task payments feature does not need to be used for any existing or future work with members of your team but is a requirement for work assigned to any network service providers.

⚠️Autopay is required for network providers and is always on.

In Payment Settings:

  • Autopay members of your team works as it does today and can be configured based on your preferences in payment settings

Autopay for Network-matched Service Providers is Always on and cannot be changed.

When payment happens: Breezeway pays the provider automatically when a network task is marked Finished or Approved.

If a task is Closed, payment is auto-paid only if the task was started by the service provider. A task closed without being started stays in Pay Tasks where you can pay it manually or move it to Approved (which will trigger payment).

The “Mark as paid” payments feature is not available for network tasks.

If a Payment Fails

If an automatic payment fails, you are notified. Breezeway retries automatically when you add or update a valid payment method, and you can also retry the payment yourself within Payments. If your only payment method is removed or becomes invalid, you’ll receive a notification asking you to add a valid method to continue working with network service providers.

Removing a Network Provider

You cannot remove a network provider from your workspace while they have pending payments. Complete the payments first, then remove them.
